Teaching with Graphic Novels

The Powerpoint that was used at Celia Brownrigg and Susan Ma's workshop "Graphic Novels and the New IRP" can be found on Celia's blog: Reality Through Language.

There is also a starter list of G.N. professional reference on our "Book Lists" page under the "Resources" tab.

If you are starting a unit using comics or graphic novels, or thinking of starting planning one, have a look at this ppt on Comics Vocabulary, created by Celia Brownrigg as an introduction for a unit on the graphic memoir Persepolis.  Students need to add to their lexicon in order to participate in literary conversations about graphic story telling.
